What the information on this site is for, what it is not, and which parts of a roof should not be approached without equipment.

Is anything here an assessment of my roof?

No. The fault descriptions, price ranges and guidance on this site describe how roofs behave in general on this coast. Pitch, covering age, decking condition, ventilation, exposure and what a previous contractor did all vary, and only somebody standing on your roof establishes what it actually needs.

Can I rely on the prices?

Only as a planning range. The figures are stated for Harrison, Hancock and Jackson counties in 2026 and reflect typical materials and labour. Material costs move, access varies enormously between a slab-on-grade house and a raised pier-built one, and no published figure binds any contractor.

Which parts should I not attempt myself?

Anything requiring you to be on the roof. A wet or aged shingle surface is less stable than it appears, the pitch is steeper than it looks from the ground, and heat on a Mississippi roof surface causes mistakes. Falls during storm clean-up injure people on this coast every season. Clearing gutters from a properly footed ladder and photographing damage from the ground are reasonable. Walking a storm-damaged roof to assess it is not.

Are the permit and code statements current?

They reflect the position established with the City of Gulfport, Ocean Springs and Biloxi at the time of writing. Municipal requirements change, and Gulfport has had updated residential codes under consideration. Before work begins, confirm the current position with the issuing office: Gulfport Urban Development at 1410 24th Avenue on 228-868-5715, Ocean Springs Building Department on 228-875-6712, or Biloxi Building Division on 228-435-6270.

What about the grant and insurance information?

Programme rules and policy terms change, and eligibility for Strengthen Mississippi Homes is determined by the Mississippi Insurance Department rather than by us. Coverage under any insurance policy is determined by your carrier and the wording of your own policy. Nothing here is a representation that a particular claim will be paid or that a particular application will succeed.

Who is responsible for the work itself?

Independent contractors, under the agreement you form with them. Gulfport Roof & Storm arranges the booking, verifies registration and insurance before assigning work, and remains the route for complaints as described at complaints.

Are the manufacturer names an endorsement?

No. Shingle, membrane and metal manufacturers are named on this site only to describe materials and standards. Gulfport Roof & Storm is not affiliated with, authorised by, endorsed by or acting as an agent for any manufacturer, and no manufacturer certification is claimed.

What about the agencies you link to?

Offices, boards and programmes are named so you can approach them directly. We do not control their published information and are not responsible for its accuracy or availability.

Water coming in, or shingles gone after the wind?

Tarping goes on first so the deck stops taking water, then the roof is inspected and documented properly. Across Gulfport, Biloxi and the coast, with the figure agreed before anything is torn off.
